A ceasefire on paper has not meant safety for Gaza’s children. In its 16 October briefing, UNICEF says more than 340 children have been reported killed since the ceasefire was announced just over a year ago.
The agency estimates that 800,000 children remain displaced. Families in tents and damaged buildings face winter with inadequate shelter. These are UNICEF’s figures, rather than an independent WDWK count.
Separately, AP reported on 15 October that commercial shipments had stopped entering for two days. Israeli authorities attributed the stoppage to merchants protesting Hamas taxation; Palestinian importers disputed that explanation.
The distinction matters: a commercial-supply interruption is not evidence that every humanitarian shipment has stopped. The report also does not establish how long that interruption will last.
